Each set of the DMV test consist of two-part knowledge exam given on a computer and tests your knowledge of traffic signs, motor vehicle laws, and safe driving.

The Virginia knowledge exam has two parts. Part 1 is 10 road sign questions and you must answer all 10 correctly before you can move on to Part 2. Part 2 is 30 general knowledge questions and you must answer 24 of them correctly (80%) to pass. Source: Virginia DMV, The Knowledge Exam.
